As we work together on the Trinity River Corridor Project and enjoy the area, there is a lot of new terminology and things to learn.

Visit us here for articles and information to help us all enjoy our River even more. And let us know if there is something that you want to know us to cover!

Overlook – an area just outside the levees to provide views of the river and access to the surrounding neighborhoods. These areas provide an opportunity to create unique urban parks.

Levee – an embankment, often like a hill, that follows along the course of a river to provide protection in the case of a flooding of the river.

Watershed – an area of land that drains all the streams and rainfall to a common outlet such as a reservoir or river. It is the collection portion of the process in which water drains down into streams, then rivers and eventually in our case with the Trinity, into the Gulf of Mexico.
