Dallas, Texas (April 23, 2024) – In support of Harold Simmons Park’s future impact on Dallas, Congressman Marc Veasey presented a $1 Million federal Community Project Funding check to the project during a press conference at the Trinity Park Conservancy’s office on Tuesday, April 23rd. State Senator Royce West and State Representative Rafael Anchía were in attendance to express their unified project support. The funds will support the construction of a major park connector, a 130 ft long land bridge, over Beckley Avenue. The land bridge will connect Harold Simmons Park’s West Overlook with the Park’s nature preserve.
The Federal Community Project Funding received congressional bi-partisan support and approval. This significant contribution aims to bolster vital environmental sustainability, connectivity, and economic opportunities for West Dallas communities. The land bridge seamlessly connects community neighborhoods and their residents to established centers of Dallas via existing trails and roadways.
