YOUR PARK.

YOUR VISION.

Community Listening Sessions: Reimagining 106 W. Commerce, a Gateway to Harold Simmons Park

At Trinity Park Conservancy, we work in collaboration with the community to design public spaces that unite us, enrich people’s lives through access to nature, create economic opportunities, and inspire us to treasure and protect the Trinity River’s ecosystems. To fulfill the promise of the Trinity River as the natural gathering place for all of Dallas, we want to hear from you.

In 2019 we purchased the former Jesse R. Dawson State Jail (referred to as 106 W Commerce) with the intention of reimagining the building as a gateway to Harold Simmons Park — part of the vision for a great public park that contributes to an even greater city. As we embark on the design process, we invite you to share your ideas as part of a community listening session hosted by the Conservancy, the architects for 106 W Commerce, and other key stakeholders.

Perched on the levee of the Trinity River near downtown, 106 W Commerce connects the city to the river. Join the conversation and help us transform this building into a place that is a vibrant part of the Park, where people can connect to one another and to nature, where all are welcome, and where economic opportunities are fostered.
