Designing Equity in Parks and Public Space. In this panel discussion moderated by Lizzie MacWillie of buildingcommunityWORKSHOP we will explore the current practice of public space design with Adrian Benepe, Senior VP for the Trust for Public Land and former New York City Parks Commissioner, Willis Winters, Director for the City of Dallas Park and Recreation Department, and Diane Jones Allen, Program Director of Landscape Architecture at University of Texas at Arlington and Principal at Design Jones, LLC.

This moderated forum will discuss how Dallas can elevate the current level of thoughtfulness and equity in designing the city’s public spaces. We will address how design can take into account concerns of race or ethnicity, neighborhood vitality, urban development, and accessibility. What is the responsibility of the design community and the city in promoting these issues when designing public spaces?
