Update from the President & CEO

In December, we shared a “First Look,” a glimpse at what Harold Simmons Park could be based on your ideas and priorities for the future of the Trinity River. Thank you to everyone who attended a presentation, joined a workshop, or took a survey. The initial look was met with great enthusiasm by the hundreds of attendees at the event.

There is much that goes into creating a transformative park that all can enjoy. As the design work continues throughout 2019, we commit to keeping you updated on progress and sharing information on this unique area. The more we all know about our river, the more we will enjoy it and understand its many benefits to our city.

To assist with this, we are excited to bring you events that help you enjoy this natural treasure. Throughout 2019, we will be hosting speakers on topics such as habitats such as Blackland Prairie, hydrology and the impact of water, and how access to nature benefits our residents and city. We are also planning events and activities in the Park area so we can enjoy it now. Make sure to join our mailing list to hear about events such as our upcoming Keep It Green volunteer day and All Out Trinity.

Please mark your calendars to join us for two upcoming milestones in the design process for Harold Simmons Park:

March 21: Community & Economic Development Forum – Join us as we launch our community and economic development studies surrounding Harold Simmons Park. Presentations will be followed by a panel discussion and questions from the audience.

April 25: Design Reveal – Celebrate with us as we unveil the full initial design of Harold Simmons Park.

We hope to see you at these and our other events. With your help, Harold Simmons Park will be the natural gathering place for Dallas.

Thank you for all your support,

Brent Brown
