The Conservancy’s New President & CEO

Dear Friends of the Conservancy,

As the new Board year begins, we can look back at 2017 with great pride. We made many changes to better serve and steward the Trinity River Project.

  • We changed our name to Trinity Park Conservancy to signify our increased mission to fulfill the promise of the Trinity River as the natural gathering place for Dallas.
  • We launched a new website as a resource for all Trinity activity.
  • We streamlined the processes needed to successfully design and create public spaces along the Trinity.

Guiding us through this, we enlisted the help of Brent Brown, AIA, Founding Director of buildingcommunityWORKSHOP, also known as [bc]. And now, I am pleased to announce that he has accepted the role as the CEO and President of the Trinity Park Conservancy.

Brent acted as leader of the Conservancy, while maintaining his active role with [bc], a nonprofit community design center working to improve the livability and viability of communities through thoughtful design and making. In becoming our new leader, Brent will be handing over the daily operation of [bc] to staff there and moving to a volunteer role as Chairman of their Board of Directors.

Brent’s experience and background in urban design and community issues, including his work at as the Founding Director of the City of Dallas’ CityDesign Studio stewarding the urban design vision for the city, makes him the ideal candidate to take the Conservancy forward.

We are thrilled to have Brent’s experience and skills to assist us as we strive to Reimagine our River . 2018 will be a key year as we renew our volunteer program, begin community workshops and design for Harold Simmons Park, and develop other projects to continue making our Trinity River the heart of Dallas.
