In October 2016, the Conservancy received a historic $50 million gift from Annette Simmons for the Trinity River Park to advance Dallas’ Balanced Vision Plan. Upon the creation of a new public-private collaboration with the City of Dallas and Council direction to move forward with the park, the Conservancy is committed to engaging the public, raising private funds, designing and constructing the park, and ensuring its operations and maintenance are of the highest standards for generations to enjoy.
The Trinity River Park concept covers more than 200 acres and includes a naturalized river landscape with gateway parks bridging the levee and connecting directly to the city. Located in the center of Dallas, the Trinity RIver Park offers the opportunity to re-center the city on the Trinity River connecting communities and encouraging economic development.
Urban in character, these overlook parks include urban elements such as playgrounds, fountains, and plazas. The overlooks transform the accessible connection between the city and the floodway into a park experience. Complementing the overlook parks, a meandering riverine landscape will restore the Trinity’s ecological function and natural beauty.
